Fabio Molino is a Key Account Manager at the NORMA Group site in Turin, Italy. In this interview, he tells us about his daily work routine and why he works at NORMA Group.

Fabio, how long have you been working at NORMA Group?

I started working for NORMA Group seven years ago as a Sales and Application Engineer and have now been working as a Key Account Manager for three years.

What did you do before you joined NORMA Group?

I worked as an application engineer in an international automotive-sector company. But that company offered me few opportunities for personal development, so I started looking for a company that could offer me room to grow. And that search led me to NORMA Group.

What does your daily work routine look like?

I live about an hour from the office and I get up pretty early to avoid the traffic jams. I usually listen to music on the car ride to get my thoughts in order. My work routine revolves around customer management: agreeing to conditions, sharing offers and making sure NORMA Group’s commercial strategy and structure are maintained and developed. I also actively communicate with the production sites to keep an eye on the current status of customer orders.

But the Corona pandemic dramatically changed the way I work. The traditional workday no longer existed – everything stopped in its tracks. Before the pandemic began, I visited customers in person on site; today we keep in touch virtually. That is something that we all had to adjust to at first, but we were able to quickly establish new routines.

What do you like best about your job?

First and foremost, I would say customer contact and interpersonal relations. I work with a lot of different characters and different ways of thinking. I need to develop my own strategy for each of these customers and engage with them.

The customer is more than just a customer, he is a human being. And connecting with the person on the other side of the desk – or, as is currently the case, on the other end of the phone – is a great feeling. The trust that the customer places in me is very fulfilling. And when NORMA Group’s image is strengthened by a successfully completed customer order, it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.

What do you need in order to feel comfortable in your workday?

Teamwork – the feeling of being part of a group that works together as a team and is focused on ensuring that a project is completed successfully. That’s what motivates me to press ahead.

How do you relax after work?

I like to repair cars and motorcycles in my garage. And I spend a lot of time with my family. What relaxes me most is when I have an opportunity to play with my child.
