15 Voices – 15 Countries: Joana Gomes, Portugal

This post is also available in: Deutsch

NORMA Group is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The blog series 15 Voices – 15 Countries gives 15 colleagues from 15 countries an opportunity to report on their experiences at NORMA Group and tell us how NORMA Group has developed at their location.

Joana Gomes is an Accountant at the NORMA Group site in Águeda, Portugal.

Joana, how long have you been working at NORMA Group?

I started at NORMA Group in January 2017, which means that I have now been working for the company for more than four and a half years.

What events at NORMA Group have been the most memorable for you?

One of the days I always remember fondly is Diversity Day in 2019. There are a lot of different people working at NORMA Lifial. Diversity Day is the perfect opportunity to get to know colleagues from all departments. We played several different games – sometimes together, sometimes against each other. Activities like this help to build a real team spirit.

Another event that I remember well is our Christmas tree competition last year. True to the motto “Who has the most beautiful Christmas tree?”, we created teams and worked together even on weekends to create the most creative Christmas tree. Despite the fact that every team wanted to win, we all ended up helping each other out. There was a great sense of community that day as well.

How has NORMA Group changed or developed since you started working here?

At NORMA Lifial, we are constantly developing and changing. Working conditions for employees are continuously improving – and everyone has the opportunity to express their wishes. The machines, for example, are now equipped with better protective mechanisms so that employees can work even more safely. And to reduce physical strain, the boxes in which products are transported are smaller. A new cafeteria and new sanitary facilities have also been built. Ergonomic seating is available in the offices and the IT equipment is being updated.

I am grateful to be working in a place where I can always learn new things. Being part of NORMA Group means being able to develop every day.

What would you like to see in the future of NORMA Group?

I would like us to continuously achieve positive results. I also hope that not only we as employees can always develop further, but also NORMA Group as a whole.
