In our NORMAPeople series, employees around the world talk about their day-to-day work, how they came to the company, and what they appreciate most about their jobs.
Kelly Madak has been with NORMA Group for 25 years and is now Customer Service Manager at the Auburn Hills, USA, location. In this interview, she talks about how NORMA Group has changed over the years and what advice she would give to new employees.
Kelly, congratulations on your 25th anniversary with NORMA Group!
Thank you very much! I am proud to have been part of this company for so long.
And what is it that you are particularly proud of?
NORMA Group is a great company that cares about its employees. And I have the feeling that I am taking very good care of NORMA Group in return.
“I have always been given a lot of trust and respect and have been able to build a great team.”
The cooperation among colleagues is excellent – some of my team members have been here for ten, fifteen and even twenty years. I really love my job.
Did you start working at NORMA Group right after you finished school?
No, I ran my aunt’s restaurant for about ten years. But then I was ready to try something different. And so I started at NORMA Group – on my birthday, as a matter of fact!
What positions have you held over the years?
I worked in production for a year starting in 1998 – then I was Sales Manager in production for five years. After that, I worked in the purchasing department. About 15 years ago, I moved to customer service and now work here as Customer Service Manager.
What does your daily work routine look like?
My job mainly involves working with customers to ensure they are as satisfied as possible. I also work closely with the purchasing department to ensure that orders can be delivered on time.
Every day is actually very similar: We release the shipments in the system that need to be sent out every day. We also have a lot of meetings with customers and work very hard to make sure that we are meeting their requirements. Customer satisfaction is always our top priority.
How has NORMA Group changed over the last 25 years?
The company has experienced incredible growth. And that growth also means we have been able to launch many new, innovative products with outstanding quality.
What advice would you give to new employees joining NORMA Group?
NORMA Group is an amazing company that has an amazing group of people working for it. And when you do your part, you get a lot in return.
And what do you like to do in your free time?
I love gardening and have a large vegetable garden. I also like to go fishing and spend a lot of time outdoors. My pets are my biggest hobby. I have two huskies and a cat.
Having achieved so much, what are your hopes for the future?
After 25 years, I feel that I have been able to make a difference in the company for the better, and I want to continue to help NORMA Group move forward in that direction.
“I would definitely like to stay with NORMA Group until I retire. I have been working here for more than half my life, after all.”
And finally – please complete the following sentence: I love my job because…
… amazing people work here and NORMA Group offers me a lot of security.
