Every year, NORMA Group employees around the world volunteer for social and environmental projects in their communities as part of NORMA Help Day. The goal of strengthening a sense of solidarity in the neighborhood and making a contribution to the community is at the heart of the event.
Maintal, Germany
At NORMA Group headquarters in Maintal, participants got involved in two local projects. One group of employees organized an outing to a local café for residents of Maintal’s senior center. They spent the afternoon together enjoying coffee and cake.
The other group offered hands-on support to a children’s daycare center. They did some much-needed maintenance work in the garden and took down some damaged wooden structures.
Marsberg, Germany
A local children’s daycare center in Marsberg also got a helping hand: Volunteers painted wooden walls and playground equipment, repaired a drain, helped with gardening work and built insect houses. They also baked waffles, which the children enjoyed together with the employees.
Dandenong South, Australia
Donations were collected for the “Love Your Sister” organization at a breakfast with a variety of delicacies in Dandenong South. “Love Your Sister” is an organization that advocates for advanced cancer therapies. The initiative promotes precise treatment approaches for all cancer patients, regardless of the type of cancer, place of residence, age, income or social status.
Hustopeče, Czech
Volunteers from the NORMA Group site in Hustopeče helped spruce up the municipal swimming pool by painting fences, gates and the cashier area.
Ipoh, Malaysia
The team in Ipoh was eager to contribute to a cleaner environment. Together they cleaned up the public areas around the plant.
Juarez, Mexico
In Juarez, employees got involved in some renovation work at a local elementary school. The Help Day brought together not only NORMA Group employees and the teachers at the school, but also parents whose children attended the school. A group of schoolchildren also took part in the painting work. Volunteers also donated blood to support APANICAL, an association that supports the treatment of children with cancer. The colleagues also collected 71 kilograms of plastic lids, which they donated to the organization. These are recycled and sold to raise money for cancer treatment.
Tijuana, Mexico
Colleagues in Tijuana donated materials for an earthwork construction project in a community near the plant. The project is being conducted in a local elementary school attended by several children of the production employees.
Subotica, Serbia
Volunteers in Subotica spent time at a daycare center, where they played with the children and surprised the facility with new toys and a much-needed projector.
Atibaia, Brazil
This year, a team from the Atibaia location visited the institution APAE Brasil, an organization that supports people with disabilities. They organized a festive event with popcorn, candy floss, face painting, slides and jumping castles. They also helped with the production of diapers that are manufactured at the institution and distributed to those being cared for and their families.
Saltsburg, USA
Colleagues at the Saltsburg location were involved in three projects: They helped with maintenance work at Camp Seph Mack, a Scouts of America camp, organized a raffle to support an elementary school and donated books to a local preschool.
Anderstorp, Sweden
Volunteers at the site in Sweden took part in a charity run to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood. They also made a donation to a Swedish heart and lung foundation.
NORMA Help Day has been held at company headquarters in Maintal since 2014 and is now an annual global initiative at all sites. NORMA Group employees also performed volunteer work last year: NORMA Help Day 2023
