When NORMA isn’t always NORMA…

This post is also available in: Deutsch

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again: The days are getting shorter, the Christmas lights are getting brighter and somewhere between the first frost and holiday gift lists, we receive emails that bring a smile to our faces. This is because while we at NORMA Group talk about mobility and industry applications, some people think about mineral water, shopping hours and cash withdrawals.

You read that right, and it’s because we share a name with another company: the German grocery discounter NORMA! And even though we haven’t received any fruit and vegetable deliveries yet, we regularly get inquiries in our inbox that are actually meant for the supermarket.

Would you like to hear a few of the highlights?

There was, for example, the question of whether our stores in two German cities are open on Sundays. Our preferred response would have been: “Our clamps are fully operational around the clock!” – but we are pretty sure that’s not the information they were looking for.

Or the urgent request for a statement on the recall of mineral water. Mineral water? The only thing bubbling around here is our creativity. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you what kinds of water are impacted by the recall and how you can get your money back. But rest assured, our products are dry and firm – it’s just that they’re not meant for drinking.

We also receive data protection questions about camera surveillance in the supermarket parking lots. Data protection is also a priority for us! But in a completely different way.

And film crews? They also show up at our doors on occasion! We appreciate the interest, but unfortunately we were unable to grant a request to film in front of a store in Baden-Württemberg. Our headquarters, after all, are in Maintal!

Cash withdrawals are another issue. This is now possible in many German supermarkets – but not in our production facilities.

And finally, we received a request to build a new store in the German state of Hesse, including the planned customer base and investment plans. In a sense we also do construction – but not supermarkets. We focus on future-oriented connecting solutions. Customer base? Worldwide. Investments? In innovation, not in groceries.

Why are we telling you all this?

Because we are happy when people are interested in NORMA – even if our expertise is in connecting technology. And because it shows how important clear communication is.

So the next time you have a question about clamps, connectors or other connecting solutions, we would be more than happy to help! For everything else, we recommend the discount store around the corner.

Until then, we wish you a wonderful holiday season, safe connections (at NORMA Group) and full shopping carts (at the discount grocery store NORMA).
