“Time really flies when you enjoy your job”

In our NORMAPeople series, employees around the world talk about their day-to-day work, how they came to the company and what they appreciate most about their jobs.

Félicie Remy looks back on more than two decades at NORMA Group and tells the story of a daily routine that is constantly evolving. International projects have inspired her and opened up new perspectives – both professionally and personally.

Félicie, could you describe the progress of your career at NORMA Group?

I’ve been working at NORMA Group since 2003. I started out as a material planner back then – a role that I still hold today. Although my job title has remained the same, my tasks have changed significantly over the years.

My focus is on the creation and maintenance of material master data. In 2012, I assumed the position of my Supply Chain Manager for a period of six months. Since the beginning of this year, I have been actively preparing to take on the role of backup for the Supply Chain Manager – an exciting challenge that has taught me a lot of new things.

We are currently working on prototypes integration in Windchill and D365, where I have been integrating the data from the last nine years.

“It is absolutely fascinating how processes evolve and how you can have a hand in influencing the evolution yourself.”

What inspired you to stay with NORMA Group all these years?

To be honest, I didn’t notice how quickly time passed. Time really flies when you enjoy your job. And why should I change anything when I feel so much at ease? I have everything I need here, and I have no desire to look for anything else.

What does your workday look like?

As a Material Planner, my main task is to create new items in the system, maintain the data and monitor supply levels. This includes the inventory. I spend most of my time working on the computer and in close cooperation with our suppliers to coordinate delivery dates and ensure supply. A structured daily routine and good time management are essential.

What is the biggest challenge you face in your job?

Keeping a fine balance between ensuring inventory as low as possible and ensuring that there is always enough material is definitely a challenge. At the same time, product data has to be as accurate and up-to-date, because it serves as the basis for many downstream processes.

What characteristics are important for the work that you do?

Good organizational skills are essential. Those who work in material planning must think and act in a structured way, because small mistakes can have a major impact. A good system, clear procedures and a watchful eye all help to ensure things run smoothly.

Is there a project that you are particularly proud of in your years with the company?

A particularly significant project was the switch from AX2012 to D365 three years ago. The transition was not only technically challenging, but also a great opportunity to improve my English skills – I have been communicating with international colleagues on a daily basis for four months.

It was especially nice to get to know colleagues personally. I only had digital contact with many of them beforehand. These personal encounters sustainably strengthened cooperation and we are now working together more closely and efficiently.

And what impressed you most?

Although my position has remained the same over the years, the tasks have constantly changed – through new products, new systems or new processes.

“I never would have believed that a job in material planning could be so diverse.”

It’s a dynamic keeps the job exciting and challenges me time and again.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love working in the garden. I grow vegetables and also have some fruit trees. For me, spending time outdoors is the perfect balance to everyday office life – it helps me to free my head and recharge my batteries.

And finally, please complete the following sentence: I like to work at NORMA Group because…

… supply chain is the heart of production. It is exciting to be part of this core process and actively contribute to the success of the company.
